Where we are and how to come to our 'Casale'
The Bed & Breakfast Il Casale di Monserrato is only a few kilometres away from the small town of Porto Azzurro (at just 5 minutes by car from the town center) inside Monserrato valley.
From Portoferraio:
ake the exit from the port towards the inland, drive onto provincial road (“strada provinciale”) SP24 and, at Carpani junction, take provincial road SP26 towards Porto Azzurro. You will get to the town of Porto Azzurro after crossing the island's inland and passing the Gulf of Mola.
From Porto Azzurro:
Cross the town by taking Viale Italia (the tree-lined avenue), leaving the sea behind and driving towards Rio Marina. The provincial road goes then uphill, passes San Cerbone graveyard and goes downhill towards Barbarossa.
10 metres after the junction leading to Barbarossa beach, on the left hand-side, there is another junction leading to Monserrato, where our signpost is displayed.
Leave the provincial road and drive on, towards the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monserrato; after about 700 metres you will see the famous PINE TREE (Nonno Pino) of Monserrato on your left hand-side. Drive on for another 300 metres and you will see the Casale just ahead of you.
From Cavo:
Use the directions for Rio Marina- Porto Azzurro.
From Rio Marina:
After leaving the quay behind, turn left towards Rio nell'Elba, Porto Azzurro. Take provincial road SP26 almost as far as Rio Elba. At the roundabout, turn towards Porto Azzurro. The road goes uphill and then downhill towards Porto Azzurro.
Just before Porto Azzurro, 10 metres before the junction on the left hand-side leading to Barbarossa beach, there is a junction on the right-hand side leading to Monserrato. Turn right and leave the provincial road, then drive on towards the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monserrato, and after about 700 metres you will see the famous Pine Tree (Nonno Pino) of Monserrato on your left hand-side. Drive on for another 300 metres and you will see the Casale just ahead of you.
